Their landscape

A blanket of snow (even better - a scad on the surface of the lake) makes visible the activities of the inhabitants of this landscape. I’ve put the hours in - “dirt time” - that has helped me to recognize who passed this way. But I’m clueless as to why - what were they doing, what were they thinking, why did they turn to the left at that place, and not to the right?
